At first I was very disappointed when the fly swatter arrived as I was expecting to get 5 pieces instead of 2. True, I didn't read the fine print but instead resorted to a picture showing all 5 in different colors. When I realized I'd just paid $6 for a fly swatter (oh my god!), I wasn't a happy backpacker - to say the least! Also, I put them to the test. The fly swatter is shorter than any I've ever bought and difficult to sneak up on those pesky flies. Also, it's hard to tell when the protruding side is up or down, so both sides must be felt to determine which side to use. It would be great if the company made this more clear. On the other hand, I've tried swatting a few flies in mid-air and it's amazing how they stick right to these ledges! I've never managed this with any other fly swatter before and really enjoyed seeing how much I can string! Also, I've been looking into the terrible Japanese bug season here in Southern California, and this fly swatter is extremely effective for killing those critters in one fell swoop. It would take a few hits to disable these bugs with any other fly swatter. Although I can't believe I spent $6 on a fly swatter. that certainly has its advantages!
