Review on LETHMIK Winter Touchscreen Texting Smartphones by Scott Pentapati

Revainrating 3 out of 5

They are just fine. Not particularly warm or practical.

I bought this on the spur of the moment thinking it would be great to have gloves that you can use the touchscreen with; but quickly discovered a few things that make the concept less practical. First off, of course you can't unlock the phone with your finger and you can't type your passcode while wearing gloves, as the gloves aren't precise enough to use the onscreen keyboard (if you have an alphanumeric passcode, i.e. only the passcode can work, I should everyone uses a long alphanumeric password anyway; short purely numeric PINs are just not secure). So you have to take off your glove to unlock your phone. If you're wearing gloves, touching the screen works well enough, unless you have to type text, which is just incredibly imprecise. Another thing is that these gloves are not the warmest ever. I live in Virginia and it doesn't get extremely cold here, but even in the car my hands are painfully cold with these gloves on. Putting it in your pocket helps, but of course you can't do that while driving. I imagine these gloves would be utterly useless if I lived in Milwaukee or anywhere else. If I had to buy gloves again for winter, I'd probably buy something thicker, more durable, and I'd have to take my glove off to use my phone (which you should be doing anyway to unlock your phone, even with those gloves on! ) Or I would go with those fingerless gloves. I've had a few of these before and they were much more convenient to use with a smartphone and the mitten part kept fingers warm.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Functionality
