This is a GREAT noise canceling microphone that can be used for a variety of purposes. It is widely used in the broadcasting industry. It uses a dynamic microphone element, which means there is no self-noise as there is no built-in preamp. Dynamic mics don't produce as much signal as condenser mics, so they need a good preamp or devices with dynamic mic preamps (i.e. higher gain).
