Perfect for kids bikes. It's a very grippy rubber, not a harder plastic like rubber. They are easily trimmed with a utility knife. Ideal for bikes with clutch derailleurs that require a shorter grip on one side. They cut smoothly and easily. No breaks. Before I mounted them to the bike, I put 5/16" thick, 7/8" washers in each. This is to prevent the ends from being pulled out when the bike is leaning against something and the sharp edges of the handlebars bump into it from the inside. (Won't help at all with the handlebars dragging on the pavement. They're still rubber, the washer doesn't make them as strong as carbon fiber or anything.) Using a washer with a hole in the center still allows you to get around to put the streamers on the end of the handle. i have purple The color was dark purple. Not withered and not weak. All in all I couldn't be happier. Ideal for children's bikes. I would not recommend them for an adult bike that you will be riding for some time. For an adult bike, get something more ergonomic or padded. What about a children's bike? You are perfect.
