Review on Potenza Jr. Cap Toe Oxford by Florsheim - Unisex Kid's Shoes by Jonathan Abreu

Great but not for active kids

Got a pair of these for each of my two boys in first and second grade. The shoes are beautiful and comfortable. My eldest loved it so much he decided to keep them in a box instead of on a shoe rack. But after his first week of school, everything outside is completely destroyed. The fingers look like he's held them up with a cheese grater, and even their sides are pretty worn from being asked to sit cross-legged on the sidewalk. Last year I bought leather shoes at half price and they met the same fate - although I don't think so soon. I was hoping these more expensive ones would hold up better. I don't think these are shoes though. My younger, less active son's boots have a light wear on one toe but otherwise look new. The moral of my story is these are nice shoes but if you have an active kid don't waste your money. UPDATE 9/29/20 I found a solution to keep these shoes! My boys wear them to school three times a week, 16 times exactly. By the sixth wear, both boys had severely damaged the appearance of these shoes and they looked awful. I first tried a cognac shoe polish I found at Revain and it worked, but the damage was still pretty noticeable. Then I bought cognac acrylic leather paint, but the color was too orange. Finally I bought a light brown acrylic leather paint and mixed it up. I applied generously to the damaged areas with a sponge brush and then covered the entire sock along with the damaged areas on the side. I then wiped the excess off the sock to hide it. I am very happy with the result and will use shoe polish to restore the shine once the paint dries. I will update again after they put them on to see how the repair holds up. Fingers crossed, it's been like this for over a day! I am very happy with the result and will use shoe polish to restore the shine once the paint dries.
