Advantages: Small and unobtrusive, loud alarm, easy to use and inexpensive, so it is not too expensive to put it anywhere there is a risk of water leakage. Disadvantages: The device as it comes out of the box is not sensitive enough. The legs are quite high, so you'll need to drain some water before the water is high enough to activate the sensor. I want to catch leaks very early so that wasn't enough for me. After reading reviews of different types of leak detectors, I realized that this is a common problem. Others have solved this problem by placing a paper towel under the device to allow the water to penetrate the towel faster and hit the sensor on the bottom of the device. However, I found it messy to have the paper towel under the block, so I cut the paper towel, folded it into squares, and secured the squares to the bottom of the blocks with a rubber band (see photo). They sounded the alarm for a lot less water after this repair. I only gave this article four stars as I think it should be a design so such corrections would not be necessary. However, this seems to be a common problem with leak detectors, so I don't think that should deter you from buying this product.
