I wrote about the merits of this flashlight in a previous review, but only after I found a way to temporarily eliminate an apparent short in the power supply. I thought this was a permanent fix, but eventually the problem returned, which manifested itself in the light turning on or off simply by clicking the frame. Instead of looking for a replacement, I informed NICREW of the condition of the lights and that I was able to remedy the situation temporarily, and then they requested that I provide them with a video of the lights and their intermittent operation, which I did did (see ). In exchange for my generous donation of time and energy, they said they would send me a diving lantern as a gift. Well I didn't get it. The temporary solution I came up with hasn't worked since then, so I had to turn on the light to find the problem. And I made it. Apparently the power switch only had one wire soldered to its post and the other was just a wire "glued" to its post with some kind of rubber compound. The two pins are very close together, and most likely the assembler soldered one wire and didn't solder the second, fearing they would short. The reason the light turned on and off just by touching the frame was that the second connection was loose. I am now seeing similar complaints of intermittent operation and I hope this review enlightens potential and past buyers of this unit as to this inherent design/build flaw.
