This is actually a great little remote control; copes with its task well and greatly simplifies the passage of the MKV, etc. The only drawback is the battery compartment. It doesn't go well with the lid that fits over it. If you are not careful that the cover is on the outside of the battery holder, the connectors may break as shown in the photo. You must first insert the "top" end of the battery cover, making sure it is on the outside of the battery holder, and then snap it in from below. Don't know if that's in the manual. By the time this happened the return window had closed so I had to order replacement battery contact springs on a slow boat from China. I don't have them yet, so I'm not sure if that will work, but it's better than going through hoops with RayMarine. Update 1-5-21: The positive/negative combo spring replacement worked and is of much better quality than the original. . HOWEVER, a few weeks ago the negative spring at the other end of the battery compartment broke despite careful attention being paid to the correct orientation before closing the lid. I tried to order something that looked like it would work but it was out of stock. Finally, my friend who knows about electronics found another way. Still a good remote if you can get around the sketchy design and terrible quality of the original spring wires.
