Review on πŸ“· Dane Elec High Speed 8 GB Class 10 Secure Digital Card: Unbeatable Performance with DA-SD-1008G-C by Steve Hardy

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as fast as the label says

This is a good, big, good value card, with one caveat: although the label says 200x, that's only for read speeds. The writing speed is much slower, and for some this can be a hindrance. Class 10 speed refers to the ability to reliably transfer data continuously at 10MB/s. Today, HD cameras can output 20MB or more of data under certain conditions. For example, a hacked Panasonic GH1 could be set to a high bit rate and exceed that card's Class 10 rating. Many cards labeled Class 10 actually exceed this standard; For example, Sandisk cards labeled Class 6 or Class 10 have long been known to write at 15 to 30 MB/s, well above the standard. Unfortunately, this card is pretty close to the Class 10 standard, meaning some Class 6 cards can actually write much faster. The options to consider are higher performance: Transcend and PNY make Class 10 cards that write much faster and cost about the same price as Dane-Elec "200x".
