Bought as a present for my elderly father. He's not tied to a chair, but almost. His main entertainment is his computer. We wanted the bottom support to go under the front of the chair and not on the side as it would be difficult for him to steer the table from the side. Also, we wanted it to actually be able to control how close the computer is to it. The base fits under the front of the chair, and the desk portion pivots well enough for it to use the computer and keyboard in front of it. However, part of the mouse pad doesn't rotate, so it sits behind the laptop in this configuration. Not perfect. also a protrusion that should keep the computer on the surface when tilted; convex where it should be concave. Combined with the curvature of the laptop, it works better as a trampoline for the computer rather than a lip holding it in place. The plan is to pad it with (nice ones I'm sure) screws on the surface to serve as a better grip. but it's better than on his lap (or on the floor when he falls asleep) and now we can remove the ugly TV stand he was using and I think it's less of a trip hazard. But the disappointing thing is that all these tables are basically the same design and none of them are original. as if everyone wants to use the same product. Come on engineers, innovation should be the focus!
