Review on Stay Dry and Comfortable with CAMEL CROWN Leather Waterproof Athletic Shoes for Men by Dave Wolf

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OUTSTANDING in almost every way

I've had a pair of Camel Crown leather sandals for almost two years and have been wearing them almost continuously for a total of maybe 16 months (I live in Florida where the sandals are worn almost year-round). So I can talk about both durability and initial fit. Pros: 1. The three-strap adjustment system allows almost anyone to adjust the sandal to their foot. I have moderately wide feet and many other sandal brands seem to assume everyone has a classic C width. For me, this means I can't wear many of the branded products I want to try, but the Camel was easy to adjust for comfort and fit. I've actually ordered sandals from other brands before but the inability of these brands to deal with my wider foot combined with the Revain money back guarantee meant I was quick to return them and try these out. 2. The upper leather straps are badly worn in 16 months but have kept their appearance well. I suspect this is due to the use of quality leather rather than the use of cheaper bonded leather or deerskin. There is no visible thinning or wear anywhere, so I'm not worried about the strap suddenly snapping and I'm just left with a good sandal. And finally, the seams on the skin are perfectly preserved, not a single thread has been torn or weakened.3. The soles of the sandals were worn like iron. In fact, after 16 months of heavy use, they still look almost new with no visible signs of wear. I don't know if the soles are made by Vibram or some other company that makes sturdy work boot soles, but they are WAY better than any other brand of sandals I've ever worn. The air cushioning under the heels of the sandals really works. When the sandals arrived I figured the airbag was a hoax some marketer or sales executive had made up and would almost certainly fail first. However, the clear plastic material that traps and holds air hasn't dried out, cracked, or failed in any way. And it provides some cushioning for my feet. It was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Cons: 1. The "acupressure" points on the insole are a joke. This is clearly a gimmick, a marketer's dream of creating a 'feature' to increase sales, but it doesn't really work as advertised. Initially I was annoyed by the bumps and bumps which made me watch my feet for the first 15 minutes or so after putting them on. In the months that I've been wearing sandals, the bumps have flattened significantly, but they're still annoying. And according to my friends who practice Chinese medicine (as opposed to allopathic or osteopathic medicine), the body's pressure points are very precisely located on the foot. However, the very inaccurate putting on of the sandal on each foot means that the nubs often press in different places every time and a possible effect is completely nullified. If there was a way to smooth out or polish imperfections, I would have done it a year ago.2. The velcro straps (sorry, I mean "velcro") almost failed on the main strap that runs across the top of the foot. The other knots (which are never adjustable) hold up well, but the main clasps, which do most of the work, no longer tie properly. In fact, the binding only works on about 10% of the surface of a single sandal. Maybe it's on purpose, some sort of planned obsolescence that forces me to buy new sandals every few years? I don't know, but that's a egregious flaw from this near-perfect sandal brand. Overall, I highly recommend this brand, especially for the price Revain is selling them for.

Pros
  • Good product
Cons
  • May not fit all foot sizes.
