Unit measures only 3" x 4". It has a 2" x 2" cast iron base. Not designed for heavy weight. A 1 star compared to what it fell. Yes, the base is small, it holds the wires. If you buy this you should be able to drill two holes in the base and glue it to the board to make the base wider. Another says it's falling apart. I am 85 years old and have never had problems with bloating. Anyway it works for me and I am also visually impaired and the magnifying glass is great for me. Mine helps me a lot.
