It cannot be ironed directly, but once sewn into a mask, it will withstand heat until the wool is steam-cured. I would recommend testing your temperature settings with a piece of fabric placed on top of the pad so you can gauge how much heat and steam it can handle with your chosen fabric. For this pad I use cotton, satin or polycotton. For filtering purposes I ran water over the fabric and watched as the water was repelled and collected in droplets.
