We bought these when it became clear that Hurricane Irma was heading our side of Florida. Being without electricity is one thing, but wet, hot Florida nights without electricity mean no air conditioning. We ordered them Tuesday night and two, along with two packs of D batteries, arrived Friday night when everyone was evacuating the state. I opened them up, put in 2 D batteries and viola, air. The fan has 2 speeds and is very quiet. Now these are small fans and for personal use. They won't cool the room with them, but putting them on the bedside table will give you enough air to cool and breathe. We were actually surprised at how much air these kids pushed through. Well we were lucky and only lost power for one day so they didn't get much use. They are now part of our Hurricane kit along with D batteries.
