Do not use for backpack inserts: strong chemical smell!
Like others, I've had them recommended for use as cheap, strong, lightweight backpack liners (to keep things dry). However, they now have some sort of odor control that causes the bags to have a strong chemical odor. So I don't recommend using them as liners in backpacks!
