Let me start by saying that I bought these gloves specifically for my elderly cat who refuses to brush and prefers clipping hairballs. After 15 years her hairball problem has become a major health concern and I decided it was time to try a different brushing/conditioning solution and I can tell you now I wish I could just buy these gloves sooner. .It's not often that I go to great lengths to write a good and honest review, but I'm so happy with my purchase that I felt the need to share my experience. I don't know how well these mitts work with dogs, so for those of you who are reading and don't have cats, move on to a different review. But for those of you with cats who brush stubbornly, these gloves are worth trying! I have two cats and after several attempts to brush them occasionally I have come to the conclusion that they are still a little tired of the gloves and both of my cats are accepting of brushing in their own way. My older cat will come find me and meow in my face until I go through a checklist of what I think she meows about (food, water, clean litter, attention, etc.). .) and if all else fails I take off my gloves and pet her until she tries to walk forward, I grab her chest tightly and release her from my grip while I comb her whole body down to the tip of her cock. Until she escapes my grasp. She then looks at me and gives me her "approving purr" to wash it off and repeat. This whole cock hunt lasts about 5 minutes before she starts twitching her tail in annoyance, and we call it good. That's the only way I can comb her, otherwise she won't accept the gloves. The amount of hair I am able to remove from her in those 5 minutes can be seen in the attached photos and I think the photos speak for themselves in terms of the hair collection. However, my younger cat doesn't care much about her fur. Gloves unless she wants to take a nap on my lap. In this case she just LOVES the gloves and lets me comb her for hours and collect even more hair than you can see from the attached photos. She's also pretty stubborn about cat brushes and this is the only solution that works. Overall, I agree with many other reviewers that gloves are difficult to clean. Hair comes straight off fingers but in palm areas it seems more difficult to remove all hair growth by following directions and spraying with water before exiting or using no water at all. The water helps with cleaning, but it doesn't 100% remove all the hair it collects. It doesn't really matter to me, but it's worth mentioning. Oh, and the gloves look a bit cheap in terms of craftsmanship, but they're comfortable and do a great job on cats. I deducted a star for that, not necessarily because of the cleaning. Conclusion: I absolutely love these gloves. I'm sick of how much fur my cats have picked up in the short time I've been wearing gloves. And it makes me happy to know that they don't pick up everything anymore and I'm sure we'll see improvements with hairballs in the future, not to mention the amount of hair that doesn't accumulate on the floor anymore (:
