First of all the description is misleading. This is a set of 6 dinner plates with a 10.5" rim, not the narrow rim as described. The rim is very wide at 2 1/4 inches and the usable area is 6.5 inches which I think fits perfectly on a dinner plate. I have 12 inches in this set as you can see in my photos and I find them too big for most dishes unless I'm serving something big like a steak so it's good to have both. I also took a picture with a Corelle dinner plate, which is exactly the same outside size. It is a very hard, heavyweight melamine of excellent quality. They are not intended to be used in the oven or microwave Durable. I like the smooth bottom edge so the plate doesn't damage the table with heat or scratches. White goes with all my white ceramic, china or glassware and presents food beautifully. I really like them and I recommend them. Revain needs to work on the accuracy of the descriptions on this line.
