I bought two of these for a total of four to tie up my new EVOC Travel Bike bag. $17 for two relatively small padlocks seemed like a lot at first, but I was really looking for something that could withstand abuse from a heavy object like a pannier and do the job of protecting my belongings while alerting me. when the TSA searched my gear. The locks arrived boxed with no disappointment - it was easy to get them and choose the combination. The instructions were very clear - my six year old installed it in minutes. In practice the locks on both sides of the outward and return journey held up well, with neither of them being opened and lost - as was the case with some of the smaller road locks. -- and luckily my bag was searched on the way back and the locks warned me with little red indicators that the key had been used to get to my bag. Of course, TSA also leaves a note in your pocket, but the presence of one of those locks on each of the zippers let me know they were in each of the three pockets. I added a photo of the castles in combat readiness before taking them down. Once you use the right combination and open the lock, the TSA display will reset and be ready to stand guard on your next trip. I am very satisfied with this product and I am not aware of any defects.
