I bought these to store extra ingredients for baking and everything and I think they're pretty much perfect. First there was a 12 kg sack of flour. The bag filled 2 bins, mostly full as shown in my photos. I didn't discard the flour, I just added it. Next came the rest of a 10 pound sack of granulated sugar. About 1 pound was missing from the bag. I was able to fit everything into a container with enough room, so there's a good chance a 10 pound bag of granulated sugar could fit in just fine. I ended up only putting 9 pods of Ritz-Crackers in the 4th container. I don't think I could fit 10 in it but there was enough room for 9 with space in between and above. I didn't know they came with a free set of shovels. They just go perfectly with the free set of measuring spoons I got with another product from another seller so I was super excited about that! My set also included chalkboard stickers and a pen, which I didn't use. I prefer to use my own label printer, so I either use the labels for something else or give them away. It's just not my style. I believe they are dishwasher safe but I only hand washed them before use. I am very happy with them. They are perfect for what I wanted and I think they will be a versatile product for home organization. I think they would be good for hiking too.
