My Jeep TJ has a cracked fog lamp. Since there is no fog where I live, I decided to replace it with an off-road light while keeping the stock look. In the photos you can see that the stock fog light is weak compared to my headlight. When I replaced it, the headlight looks dim compared to the high beam. It's so bright it's wiping out my camera's pixels even at the highest speed. In the last photo, you can see the brightness of a high-beam headlight on the left, and the dim glow of the fog light on the right (this photo is without the headlights on). This also clarifies the pattern of the beam: basically very wide and even, with a bright spot in the middle to illuminate the track further down. The quality is very good, especially for the price. I like this round design more for a light bar than a horizontal bar, as the rear radiator (which is very heavy) has vertical cooling channels instead of horizontal ones. This creates natural convection for effective cooling when you are at rest or moving very slowly. They use 14W less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs! I live in the desert so I haven't tested the water resistance yet, but if they ever leak I'll edit this review. Installation is simple: cut the connector off a stock fog lamp and use 16 gauge waterproof crimp connectors to attach to the new lamp. If you're replacing fog lights like I am on my Jeep, there's a pin you can bend back on the relay that keeps them from turning off when the high beams are on. The physical installation is a nut and bolt. It couldn't be easier - my TJ didn't have to be drilled. I aimed them slightly outwards to aim. I placed a ruler on the front of the lantern and rotated them until they touched my winch. The beam of light is very wide and initially even, but this widens it even further and there is no point in wasting lumens on the side lighting of my winch. It also sends the midpoint farther down the track, so they illuminate things on the sides farther than my headlights. The combo is just amazing. I really wouldn't like anything lighter. It would be overkill and would ruin your night vision.
