I like the very flexible soles for small kids and they are great. I bought these for my 3 year old son; I used the size chart and it fit right the first time. It has narrow legs and they are a bit roomy in width. The soles are very flexible but not flimsy and seem to have good traction. The silly prints on the heel and toe are pretty subtle in real life, so don't let that put you off - they look classy. As for the velcro, time will tell - if it holds up well I may buy it for all the kids next summer.
