Review on 🚲 Silicone Self Fusing Bicycle Handlebar Repair Tape - 10ft Roll by Domain Cycling (Black) by Dany Hamilton

Not a fan of this store.

First of all, I have OCD because of my bike. I've been riding for over 40 years and have wrapped the handlebars a million times on different bikes. I'm bored with my gear and a cheap quick replacement is to fit new bar tape. The finishing tape that came with the strip tape sucks most of the time so like everyone else I replace it with duct tape which works fine most of the time. I ordered this silicone tape based on positive reviews and ended up not liking it. First, it's too wide. Second, it has a clear plastic backing that comes off when applied, which is quite difficult. It sticks to itself (as described). Don't pull too hard or it will crease. If you attach it directly to the bar tape, it will damage the bar tape if you try to remove it. I tried wrapping a thin layer of electrical tape first and then self-adhesive tape on top. I didn't like how it looked. It was difficult to remove (have I used that word before?) as it sticks on its own and pulls itself into a big loop and you can pull until it breaks or cut it with scissors. After fumbling for about half an hour to 45 minutes, I gave up. I just went back to using duct tape. However, for attaching the cable to the handlebars, this material is probably fine. I can't blame the thing, it just didn't work for me. Post modified on 06/21/21. Old dogs can learn new tricks. The stupid old man reapplied this material for the first time after so many problems. Everything went well and without any problems. Looks nice and shiny, holds the handlebar tape. No problem. Ignore what the person behind the curtain said the first time.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
