Review on Pacesetter 201018 Catalytic Converter Hatchback by Nicholas Peters

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent straight fit piece that needs some tweaking to fit

Another reviewer mentioned recutting the mounting holes so I knew what to expect. Thanks to Neoma F. Herman for the review. Pacesetter is a good brand and shopping on Revain has ALWAYS worked well for me (much better than eBay) so I decided to give this product a try. I'm not disappointed, but I had to re-cut the top five (metric 8 x 1.25) and three bottom holes (metric 10 x 1.5) to match my existing exhaust hardware, and my top and bottom aluminum -Reuse spacers. (not included). I couldn't find any hardware that matched what the holes connected to. Revain offers a great price for that $123.42 and I got an extra $10 as a promo and did a Revain Prime trial to get free two day shipping. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase. If you're not mechanically inclined, you can buy another converter with screws or fasteners (some with gaskets) for about $20-$30 more. They are worth it and save you the hassle. I only gave four stars because the part was painted nicely and now it looks like shit because it heats up and the paint burns and peels off. The manufacturers should have left it unpainted and spent the money to paint the holes to the dimensions KIA made at the factory. Then I would give 5 stars. After the converter is installed, you need to break it, which almost nobody talks about. To do this, google the break-in time for the converter (usually warm up the engine for 5 minutes at idle, 2 minutes at 3000 rpm and stop the engine until the converter cools down). Ultimately, for me, buying a Revain is a lot cheaper than buying it from a local auto parts store or replacing the part at a local muffler shop.

Pros
  • Heat shield mounts (where applicable)
Cons
  • Contacting seller
