Review on πŸ” AIMOS USB 2.0 USB Switch Selector - 8 in 4 Out USB Printer Sharer & Switch Box for Mouse, Keyboard, Scanner, Printer, Etc by Blake Clemons

Finally USB KVM Switch with more than 4 ports

I got this switch because I have two PCs and all my game consoles grouped together. I have this whole 4 screen setup with an HDMI switcher and a complex headset/soundbar setup that ends up doing the same thing for audio. I didn't have the opportunity to share a keyboard and mouse between them all. I had a two device switch for a PC keyboard and mouse, then a four device switch for a second wireless keyboard for consoles. For some reason it is difficult to find a USB switch with more than 4 ports. For $55, this switch had the required number of ports I needed to manage everything with the same hardware. They were even good enough to include 8 1.5m USB-A to USB-C male to male cables, which are worth the price on their own. I encountered some small flaws. First, the LEDs light up on my Corsair keyboard, but not on my Razer mouse. Also, the Razer Synapse software seems to have stopped working. That has never been a problem. I had to completely uninstall and reinstall Synapse. Another issue is that the advertised hotkey combinations for switching devices don't work. I've tried every permutation of press + hold in the prescribed sequences ([Scroll Lock, Scroll Lock, 1-8] and [CTRL, CTRL, 1-8]) and it doesn't do anything. The keyboard is plugged into the device's dedicated keyboard port, so I don't know what the problem is. The IR remote and face buttons still work, but I was really looking forward to those quick button press transitions. There's a third downside, but that's entirely my keyboard's fault, not the KVM switch's. When I tested this on my consoles, my Corsair keyboard worked fine on my PC and Xbox One, but not on my PS3, PS4, or Nintendo Switch. Apparently Corsair keyboards are not HID compliant and will not work on these consoles. Connecting my cheaper wireless keyboard to a KVM switch worked fine on all devices. Keep this in mind before blaming peripheral problems on this hardware. Only five stars. I recommend it if you have a large group of devices to share peripherals.
