Review on πŸ”οΈ Mountaineer Brand Beard Wash (8oz) - WV Timber Scent (Cedarwood/Fir Needle) - Premium 100% Natural Beard Shampoo by Mike Schmidt

Extra foam! But there's a catch.

I want to give this product 4.5 stars because I have only one small complaint and that is the aftertaste. At first glance it smells delicious - not overpowering, very masculine and natural. The aroma of cedar is pleasant, subtle. However, once you apply, lather, and rinse, the refreshing scent is completely gone, replaced by an incredibly healing, strong, long-lasting, and more than moderately unpleasant scent. It reminds me of the smell of hand soap in a public restroom. For example, if you immediately regret washing your hands. Although the product states that it contains no artificial flavors, I would still rate it almost as hot as any chemical flavoring, which may be a turn off for some. I also really like this beard shampoo. The amount of lather it produces is fantastic. Other beard washes I've used require two uses. One to prep the beard with little to no lather and the other to lather and massage the beard and skin. A coin-sized drop of this cleaner creates so much suds that I feel guilty washing it off and not finding anything else to clean it with. After rinsing off the wash my beard is very clean and soft and ready for oil and balm. I bought some unscented oil and balm but combined with the unpleasant aftertaste of this beard wash my beard ends up smelling plastic and antiseptic. I need to find the right combination of products that not only makes me smell good but also makes me happy with the way my beard looks. I will keep experimenting. I hope Mountaineer changes the recipe for this stuff because it's almost unbelievable. I'm finally seeing people complaining about having to unscrew the cap. No, it's not perfect, but I ended up just replacing it with a flip-top cap from another bottle of beard wash I bought previously. Problem solved.

Pros
  • STOP FLUSHING NATURAL OILS OFF THE CARD. Regular shampooing rids your beard of the oils that Mother Nature naturally provides. When you do this, your beard gets tangled and either dries out or works overtime to compensate with extra oil. Either way, it's a mess!
