Only buy this if you plan on losing your keys or whatever is attached to them. I've been using another company's quick release magnet for a while and it works really well, so I decided to give it a try. The ones I used are solid brass and about the same size, so I figured the KeySmart MagConnect would be the same, except for the fact that they're plastic (no big deal). KeySmart, such a large company specializing in key devices. No doubt such a simple idea would come to mind, creating a device that uses two magnets to connect two keyrings together and doesn't allow them to separate until you ask for it, right. nope The description says "WEIGHT 3 lbs". For me, not being a physics professor, it's difficult to judge how much force 3 pounds is. Coming back to my earlier statement that a company that only makes key devices should know exactly how much effort is required to ensure your keys are secure and not separated from one another by taking them off the counter too quickly , because you are in a hurry, otherwise your foot will hit it while driving. Let me be clear that I don't have thirty keys dangling from the MagConnect. I have a standard KeySmart with four keys and on the other side a Magconnect with a car key and fob. Certainly not 3 pounds or even 1 pound. I just weighed each piece of my keys and my KeySmart side weighs 2.6 ounces and the car key side weighs 1.4 ounces. Both with the magnet removed for quick connection. To end this review, I just want to say that if you're looking for a magnetic quick connector that's really easy to take apart, and there's no guarantee you won't end up with half a set of keys one day, KeySmart MagConnect is for you to lose . Just be aware that there are others that work more reliably. For reference, I've found my original can handle up to 6 pounds of force. It's amazing what a difference of 3 pounds.
