Review on ๐Ÿšด Sport Comp V-Brake Set by Origin8 by Derrick Duck

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Poorly designed $40 complete junk kit.

This is Origin8 so I expected the same good quality from budget parts. When I first installed them on a cruiser bike with painted rims, the performance was lacking. I blamed it on the sick drives. I later installed them on a regular cruiser with stock discs and it still lacked power, meaning that with seven gears in low gear you can still pedal fully with both brakes. For reference, they started with a 2mm offset from the rim. This prompted me to measure the brake levers which are about 2" from the pivot point, most brake levers (Avid, Shimano) are about 1.5". Second, the brake pads are just crappy hard rubber. Pros: Cheap, and I mean cheap, not cheap. Ok, this should be a complete kit. Disadvantages: Cheap levers have weak geometry. Brake pads are weak and need to be replaced. I would swap out the lever for something better. Instructions are useless (applicable if you need them). I intend to ride on flat terrain and definitely will not take them to the mountains or serious climbs. Your life is worth more than $40. I will be replacing the pads and lever on both sets which really doesn't make them worth the $40 I paid.
