I mean I haven't used it for basket weaving or anything else that people usually use it for. But I used it for my plush stuffed animal - first to give it the finishing touches (the stuffed animal can't be without hay, but real hay won't do), and then to make a little straw sun hat, which I think I got. pretty good. :) I don't know if that would be a good idea for a real straw hat (I didn't try it with real straw like you did, I used hot glue so I can't comment on how well it works since it's quite malleable ). But it worked well for my glue craft projects and I will definitely use it again on future projects like this if I need/want to.
