Breakthrough Photography Stepped rings cost about four times more than regular rings and are worth every penny. After getting two new $6 aluminum rings that bent when I opened the box, I found Breakthrough CNC Brass Rings and have only bought their rings ever since. Even if the cheaper aluminum rings weren't as brittle, the threads of the Breakthrough Rings are so much smoother that they would still be worth the price. The grooved outer edge provides a much better grip than even Tiffen rings, which are half the price of Breakthrough rings and are still aluminum. I have five or six different sized breakthrough rings and will only buy these. Of all the cases I've come across where you actually get what you pay for, these rings represent the most black and white, easily recognizable difference from other boost rings on the market.
