The quality of the stones can't be beat and comes in a massive gift box. Stones are not cheap. I assume you're paying for the fancy box and presentation, but the components inside are top notch. The wooden base for the stones is very comfortable and will not slip on the countertop/bench even when wet. My only wish was that they also have a 400 grit stone, 1000 is too good and too slow to bring back a really dull knife. As for usability. Effective hand sharpening of knives still requires skill and practice. The large size of these stones makes it easy to sharpen large knives, but nothing beats practice and experience.
