Having tried multiple sound devices from regular speakers to fan style and just using the app on my phone, this is by far the best I've ever used. The buttons are soft and don't make uncomfortable plastic clicks like some of my others. The variety of sounds and speaker quality are fantastic for such a small device. I also had a white noise app on my phone and the sound quality on this device is better than the output from my Samsung smartphone. Step to a higher note. There are several "bubbling brook" sounds, most of which sound like someone urinating into a toilet in the middle of the woods. Rain sounds range from heavy rain on the roof of your car to a pretty realistic sounding thunderstorm. Unlike many audio devices, I don't hear the moment the audio track loop restarts. The sounds of white noise also don't have that weird rhythm that your subconscious seems to pick up and focus on when that's all you hear when you're desperately trying to sleep. I only have two problems with it for me. First you have to scroll through all the sounds to get to the right one. You can't just type in a number or press a button on the remote, but that's pretty minimal. And the nice thing is that it stays set to your chosen sound, as well as volume, until you turn it off completely. Second, it has a small blue LED that lights up when the sound machine is on. You wouldn't think anything of it just by looking at this little thing, but at night when your room is dark, this thing is very common. If you're using this in a child's room it will work as a dim night light, but if you want to keep your room as dark as possible you'll need to wrap some duct tape or something similar around this thing. The "cons" are pretty minor, and with everything else it has, it really didn't knock it off the reviews for me. I stayed with those who were bad. It's just really, really bad - and I (deliberately) paid $25 for it - this thing compared to a Bose surround sound system. Trust me - I'd happily pay $25 for one of these things and not another brand I've used before.
