These ratchet straps have quickly become my favorite strap. Instead of the many regular holes centrally located along the entire length that when leaning or sitting stretch out from tension and make the strap look prematurely worn and aged. This belt uses a different system. It's basically a big fancy zipper but with an extra latch that releases the ratchet so you can undo it again. The ratchet is the plastic piece on the back of the strap. It makes a pretty loud click like a zipper when you close it. The biggest advantage of this strap over holes is that these straps allow for much finer adjustment. It's almost like having a hole every 1/4 inch. Something that just isn't practical on a regular sling with holes, which usually have holes about an inch apart. The only drawback is that the buckle is a bit lower than usual. Otherwise only pluses. This belt is not too long and can accommodate 34-36 inches. If you have a very small waist, you may need to remove the buckle and shorten the belt. There is a lever on the back to open the buckle, and good kitchen scissors will easily cut the belt. This belt looks great, has a nice textured eggshell finish on the front and no weird logos or anything. It's simple, elegant and easy. The leather belt is 1.5 inches wide and therefore fits both business and casual trousers such as jeans. Both my husband and I love it.
