i am not sure if this is a good thing but i think it is a bad thing. the strap material is thin. which means that the d-rings are able to turn about in it so that the flat side is exposed. having a thicker, more rigid strap material would not only increase durability but also prevent the flat side of the d-ring from coming out of the strap.the benefit of a thinner material is that it is less abrasive on the skin if your hands were to rub on it. it is also less expensive to produce and buy.overall, the d-ring thing is no more than an annoyance. i like these and i do recommend them.
