I'm impressed! Exactly the product deserves your attention.

You can talk about how I came to buy 7d for a long time. I used to shoot on the Panasonic HVX-204, and for the photo I already had a Nikon d700 with an average fleet of lenses. The choice was between GH1, 5d mk2, 60d and of course 7d. But due to the shortcomings of each: weak HDMI in 60d and 5d (+ lack of slow motion in the latter). on GH1 you canโ€™t find accessories anywhere, and you canโ€™t flash it anymore. I sold Panas with his expensive P2-card (30 thousand for 32 GB) and bought a 7d fully equipped with microphones, a display, a recorder, a rig for it and a steadicam. This is the best I could see in terms of video recording and ergonomics. I have never used autofocus if there is a manual one. My colleagues told me - don't take a camera (it doesn't look as solid as a camera) Yeah. A rig with a followfocus and a matbox, hung with all the necessary prichendals, solves all issues in favor of the DSLR-shift (thanks to the matbox, I guess). I see no reason to take Mark2 (at first I thought to take it myself), it is still for photos, not for video. 7d is primarily a camera for video, and secondly - for reportage photography, when there is no time to look at the result (the second Digik comes to the rescue). PS. 1) if you think that buying 550d or 60d you will get the same video picture, you are wrong (I personally checked all three cameras before buying - 7d shoots much better at the same shutter, aperture and ISO positions) 2) why do I scold HDMI from 5d? a friend of mine was shooting a film on it in the woods under fluorescent lighting, and his sick cameraman set the shutter to 1/60 (it should have been 1/50 or 1/30) or even worse on the machine. A strobe went across the screen, which they only noticed when viewing in the studio. Finally a reshoot. We then checked why the strobe was not detected immediately. Because the picture on the external monitor was terrible, and the strobe was visible only on the native 3-inch screen. Frightened, I checked the same conditions on 7d (with the same monitor) - thank goodness for HDMI! the strobe was immediately visible))

Pros
  • First of all, Video Features: - simply amazing video. even better than Mark 2 if you don't go beyond ISO 2022. - the ability to shoot at 50 frames per second. - Normal HDMI output with normal output during recording (in 5D Mk2 and 60D everything is very deplorable in this regard) - Pleasant ergonomics due to the fact that the 7d was initially pushed towards video functions, as evidenced by a separate "Start-Stop" button. - Ability to rotate aperture during recording (handy for reportage shooting when there is no time to stop recording or rotate ISO) - Recording mode 1920-1080 24p and 25p (NOT 30p (!) like Mark 2). That is, immediately cine framerate and more native PAL and not foreign and inconvenient NTSC. - lies in the hand very comfortably, unlike the 3- (550d) and 2- (60d, 50d) -digit younger brothers. In this regard, it is absolutely similar to Gloom 2. - very good color reproduction due to which video cameras for 150-200 thousand (for example, Panasonic HVX-204) smoke well aside. I've seen better only with SONY DSR-400 for 450 thousand, but this is a TV camera with a low resolution for cinema and an old 4-3 aspect ratio. - again, unlike camcorders, real 1080p progressive scan (a stone in the garden SONY A580, A55 with 1080i format, which is only suitable for shooting trips to Thailand and for other "home videos") - the best ratio "price / quality / functionality" and I think this applies not only to the video component. Advantages of "PHOTO" (I wonโ€™t note much, since I donโ€™t take pictures much, leaving this work to more competent people in this regard): - Being also the owner of the Nikon D700, I immediately say that the 7d has one advantage . namely, with budget Nikon optics (via an adapter), for some reason it gives a softer picture. - works great with Canon 50mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.8 if you don't try to shoot with autofocus. - with a good memory card, continuous shooting can shoot continuously for a very long time. Apparently, the second Digik4 is primarily used here. - Convenient viewfinder.
Cons
  • I will summarize the disadvantages of the camera in one column: - I came across a broken pixel in the matrix, which, in principle, is not visible until you start shooting video at high ISOs (but still, why can't the camera ignore it or replace information from neighboring pixels?) - ugly video container, at least there is no "1280-720 24p" mode, which is why only 80 minutes of video can fit on 32 GB. - the battery is quickly eaten up (for me, the battery pack is not an option, because otherwise I will not put the camera on the body kit). Cheap Lenmar batteries fix all this. - when using chip adapters with M42, the camera starts to periodically sharply open and close the digital "hole" (regardless of what value is set on the lens)
