FIRST I didn't like the fact that the paint (or coating) on the batteries peeled off or rubbed off my fingers when I touched them. I just told myself they must be damn fresh, out of production (or were a bit dirty going through the "painting"). It's too early to talk about performance. But please stay tuned. Situation: A few weeks ago I had two new/unused (and quite mature!) Sunbeam 'Super Heavy Duty' Cs and it took FOUR Cs to drive TWO low powered patio speakers. My primary (disposable) battery cells/supplies are refrigerated for longer shelf life/storage. Two "mature" Sunbeam batteries from the fridge were 1.48VDC and 1.49VDC. Slightly low resting voltage as a result of leaving the 'fridge at +/-36Fº. Because. Six new/received ALLMAX alkaline C cells measured 1.55 to 1.56 VDC at a quiescent ambient (kitchen!) temperature of 68°F. For the sake of a smile, I put the "mature” heavy-duty SUNBEAM and the new ALLMAX alkaline in the two loudspeakers. The batteries in these speakers are connected in series. Based on your interest, I thought I'd do a rest/idle test of the battery in the speakers at this point in life. ALLMAX alkaline, both 1.56 VPC; Mature SUNBEAM Heavy-Duty, 1.53 and 1.52 V per channel. Yes, why NOT turn on the speakers and see how the readings change under load. The ALLMAX alkaline voltage dropped to 1.54V per channel and stayed there for a few minutes when the speakers were turned on. Mature SUNBEAM Heavy Duty batteries dropped to 1.52, 1.51 and deteriorated further to 1.48, 1.47 VPC a few minutes later when I stopped the stress test/turned off the speakers. Soooo, what have we established or defined in this effort? Absolutely nothing! non-alkaline BATTZ vs. NEW alkaline BATTZ! ok man! However...it gave me something to do while I FIGHT to deal with a newcomer to my state, a socialist governor, and her ongoing executive orders stemming from this Chinese virus that we have here. Oh, the paint or coating (see picture) is STILL coming off your ALLMAX C elements...
