When I first heard about this, I was confused about what was going on. In general, this is an NIGHT LIGHT (like the name implies), and it turns on when two requirements are met: there is movement in the room, and there is not enough light. It was my intention to draw attention to a portion of the kitchen that lacked adequate lighting. As a consequence of this, I simply mounted it on the vent hood so that it would brighten the kitchen at night. Powered by three AA batteries, which are not included in the package.
