Review on KARKEIN Women'S Waterproof Low Heel Ankle Boots For Work And Winter by Mikey Somerville

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cute, but watch how you lace them

Needed some waterproof boots to walk in snow. I normally wear anywhere from a size 7 to size 8.5. Ordered an 8.5 in order to wear thick/double socks, and these fit just fine. These boots are definitely waterproof, and thankfully, nice and warm. The tread is nice, and grippy enough to allow me to walk over thick crackly ice without slipping. They're a nice neutral pink, so they go well with other colors (I have coats in several different colors and was a little concerned about this). They're a little stiff, but I've only had them a short while, so hopefully I'll break them in. They are completely flat inside, so an insole might be in order if you need a little more support. When they first arrived, only the first four holes were laced, so I laced the other three holes the way I lace sneakers- inside to outside. But when I walked, the ankle support area was very uncomfortable, and the boots squeaked. Looking at them, I realized that the first four holes were laced in the opposite way- outside to inside. I re-laced them this way, and that made them much more comfortable and stopped the squeaking. If you're having squeaking issues, try re-lacing them so that the ends of the laces originate from the inside of the boot, not the outside.Giving these 4 stars because I'm a little concerned about durability. In the short time I've owned them, they've gotten a very definite crease across the top, and they don't feel super sturdy. Still, if they last me 'til spring, I'll be satisfied. Considering buying a second pair in a different color.

Pros
  • Goes well with casual or professional attire
Cons
  • The low heel may not be suitable for those who need more cushioning in their footwear
