It's a reversible strap (not two separate straps) and that's fine - you pull the buckle a little and then rotate it 180 degrees. I don't understand the reviews where people think it's two straps as this type of mechanism is nothing new and is clearly stated. However, I bought the black and tan version and it was rolled up tightly, packaged carefully and securely, with the tan side out. After flipping and bending the other way, the black side (formerly the "backside") developed spots that looked like zigzag bubbles, similar to stretch marks. This was done in at least four places with three or four marks in each place and while not very noticeable when they are noticed the belt looks unacceptable. I liked the color of the belt and buckles but they weren't good enough for the one occasion I needed them. Oh and sizing I was on the border between sizes and should have ordered the smaller size. My waist is 33-34 inches (actual tape measure, not vanity size) and 36 inches was too big.
