The concept of combining a laser range finder with route information is brilliant and well executed in this device. I played a dozen courses with him and he was always quick to identify the course I was playing on and had the data for everyone. The rangefinder function works well, as does everything else. The appearance of this device leaves a lot to be desired. For example, I often use my device as a scope to see where my ball stops and often the optics aren't clear enough to see the ball like I was able to with my previous (Bushnell) rangefinder. Most 2 or 3 rounds before needing a reload. I prefer a device that uses a battery so I can easily carry an extra battery and not worry about losing power during a lap.
