M1 Mac initially cannot run more than one external display. DisplayLink comes to the rescue. Displayport (2560x1440.) Wavlink connected to the USB3.0 port of the docking station, connected a DVI cable to Wavlink, installed DisplayLink and BAM - now I have 3 monitors. #1 is 32" 2560 x 1440, #2 is 23" 1920 x 1080 and #3 is the laptop's own Retina display, which I use a size "larger" than the stock size to suit my eyes and the Adjust viewing distance on all monitors. There is no flicker. , no compression artifacts, no weird colors. It works just like it did when I had my old Mac and used a DVI->Thunderbolt2 dongle. I'm currently playing a 1080p youtube music video on it. I think there's a very subtle difference when you're seeing this on a DisplayLink display versus another external display. The clarity is very good - even with strong movement/scene changes. No MPEG blur or the like. For casual video viewing on the side screen, this is 100%. At the same time, it may differ slightly compared to a traditional display. I can not understand. It could be a dropped frame, or the compression increases slightly with fast motion. But it's still a little bit different. As for the computer's performance, I didn't even flinch. I can run full screen YouTube videos on all three screens at the same time. They're all smooth, and the processor didn't even bat an eyelid. No fan and maximum core temperature 56c. I don't know how this DisplayLink magic works, but I think it must be dark art! Bottom Line: A DisplayLink monitor powered by a Wavlink USB3.0 to DVI adapter will work as advertised. on gesture. If you need this configuration, just get it! PS - Full screen video runs about 30 minutes on it and the converter box barely gets lukewarm.
