Works, but could be better! How to make it last longer!

They work very well. So why only 4 stars? Well, as some have pointed out, after a fairly short period of use they become very difficult to blow. Some suggest putting a few cotton balls in the blow nozzle and removing them when the device starts to clog. This is a good idea as it actually works twice. It has a paper fiber air filter similar in appearance to the car air filters of yesteryear, and after the smoke has passed it passes through an activated filter. charcoal. From my experiments with making my own filters, I can confirm that it is the paper filter that actually removes visible smoke (tar), while the filters I made only used activated carbon, although they are designed to remove smoke effectively. . and evenly throughout the charcoal, removing no visible smoke at all. Therefore, it seems that charcoal is only meant to remove odors and possibly narcotic elements like THC or nicotine. So if you put cotton balls in the blown end, they will start to absorb most of the resin, making the smoke visible and preventing most of it from getting into the inner paper filter. But even this method eventually clogs the paper filter element in the device. There is a solution to this problem. I take a bottle of 99.9% iso alcohol and place it in a deep kettle with as hot water as I can get from the faucet to heat the alcohol. WARNING - NEVER USE A FLAME OR STOVE TO HEAT ALCOHOL UNLESS YOU LIKE SEVERE BURNS! After the alcohol has been heated, slowly and gradually pour it into the SmokeBuddy. Since it will take some time for the resin to break through, filling the device to the brim will not be difficult. At first he will just sit. But after a minute it will start pouring from the bottom and there will be a ton of resin in it. I do this over a large bowl. I pour about 8 ounces through the device. I also use a paper towel to wipe up any spilled alcohol around the edge so I can put my mouth on it and blow out the alcohol. But it's important not to do this too soon, because if you let the heated alcohol flow slowly, it will pick up more resin than it blows out. Blowing helps remove any leftover alcohol, and I only do this after each pour has stopped flowing out of the floor to clean it up for the next pour. You can't water too much at once as it flows so slowly. Try not to overfill it. After that, leave the device all day to allow the alcohol to dry. Blowing through every now and then helps. If you urgently need to use it before it dries completely, you can, but I try to avoid it. When it's done it will flow almost as well as it did when new, and so far I haven't been able to use it to the point where I can't clean it. I would give it 5 stars if the manufacturer paid attention to the fact that it's made of metal and you can unscrew the lid to change out the paper filter and even the activated carbon if needed. Instead, they chose that we do more to pollute the environment because people throw these plastic-cased devices in the trash when they stop working. Like I said, they had to make them out of metal. They cost more but will last forever if only the filter elements are bought back and replaced when necessary. Much better for the environment and for the customer. Many disposable items are manufactured and sold today.
