It works as expected when I put my hand and key to the front door keyhole and grab the keyhole. However, it is also triggered when motion is detected much further away. Windblown leaves outside the glass storm door also gently conjure it up. It would also be nice if it could detect ambient light and not turn on when motion is detected when it's bright outside. All of this would be a big minus if it weren't for the very low power consumption of the device. I've been using it for 10 months and it's still running on the same AA battery I installed when I first set it up.
