WARNING. These indicators can permanently damage USB ports!

Although these smart lights work as advertised, they will likely permanently disable your USB ports depending on the design of your specific ports. A typical "real" USB connector is 2.15 mm in diameter. These PCB-based LED lights are 2.5mm thick, which is 0.35mm thicker than a "real" USB connector. This means that these bulbs put more force on the pins in the connector housing, potentially either grabbing the edges of the pins and bending them down, or bending the spring of the pins so they don't make contact with regular "real" USB connectors. in the future. Another problem is that the leading edge of the flashlight that plugs into the USB port is not flat enough to push the pins inside the USB port out of the way when the flashlight is plugged into the socket. Instead, when you plug the flashlight into the USB port, the pins can catch on the steep edge of the fiberglass and bend into the socket. Due to the nature of the metal used in the pins, if the pins in the connector housing are bent, they cannot be straightened without breaking them - the metal will wear down and easily break, rendering the USB connector unusable. You can only break 1 pin or maybe all 4, but you need 4 pins to use the data connector. If you just bend D+ or D- you can still use this connector to charge devices, but only at lower currents (typically 250mA or 500mA depending on your hardware). For those of you who still want to give it a try, I recommend filing the smaller edges on both sides of the lantern, and then covering those edges with a thin layer of superglue to make the edge smoother so the metal pins slide without twisting to get caught . I have attached photos showing these changes in detail. So you can damage your USB ports either because the light is too thick or because the leading edge is too steep. Either way, this can permanently damage your USB ports, so be careful! If you don't have the soldering skills required to replace broken USB connectors, I recommend finding a USB light with a "real" USB connector rather than an FR4 fiber optic PCB required for this application is too fat.
