I bought this to be lazy and not get up every 2 minutes to iron something. Surprisingly hot. Heats up very quickly, feels comfortable in the hand and is easy to adjust. It also has a good long cord. I never use steam on my irons, instead I use a spray bottle so can't speak to the steam function, but a water bottle is better. You turn the switch all the way up, but I always turn it off when I leave the room. I still have my big iron and board, but it's great if you just want to iron a seam. I wrapped an ironing board mat around my sewing table next to my sewing machine and it's perfect. I wish it had an auto shut off, but I don't think something so small and simple would actually have it. I never thought about it until I saw a recent post from someone where they did. I highly recommend it. Update: I really liked this iron. Just stopped working yesterday. It will not heat. I have a little over a year. I'm so sick of the crappy quality of the things you buy. It can't be that he stopped working in just one year. I'll have to look around for another one, but not this brand.
