Review on ๐Ÿ๏ธ Enhance Performance with Polini 243.020 Torque Spring Set for Honda Ruckus & Metropolitan 50cc Scooter by Todd Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A great way to get more zip out of the warehouse hype.

I have a blue spring in my stock 2015 Ruckus along with a Polini CVT and 5g weights. I'm 6ft 2in and 240lbs. Now I definitely have more "flashes" with noise. I have a TTO tach (highly recommend doing this first before doing anything else - cheap and easy action. Knowing your RPM at the time of changing and tuning is a must). With the blue spring I get to 7000-8000 rpm faster, which helped a lot with acceleration. I'll continue tuning with different weight settings on the CVT to see what's optimal and then probably move on to Dr Pulley's sliders once I figure out the weights. I can reach 40-42+. A mile an hour on slippery roads. Again, I'll keep tweaking the CVT to see if it can improve, but I'm happy with this speed. Actual uphill speed is slightly better with the new setting, but the main improvement is acceleration. Much more comfortable in traffic on those busy 30 mph roads when oncoming traffic really wants to go 35 - 40 ;-) Again, the bike just has more "flash" which I wanted. I will say that a clutch compression tool makes this job a lot easier. I did this using the C-clamps on the edge of my workbench and while it worked it was a bit sketchy and you can easily damage the drive pulley on the clutch this way. Long term, if you think you'll need to do a lot of clutch tuning in the future, it's worth spending about $30 on a clutch spring compression tool. It's also very helpful to have a Ruckus service manual for the clutch and CVT disassembly steps (I just drew up an old manual from 2007 that can be found online as a PDF, never mind on a 2015 bike). Definitely recommend these clutch springs if you want to improve your Ruckus' low-rpm acceleration.
