They cost a little more than regular cleaning sponges but are biodegradable and compostable. However, they are packaged in plastic that is not biodegradable or compostable, so defeating the purpose of anyone trying to be "green". On the downside, it's also not as "green" as they ship to you, so it doesn't matter as much as the irony and sheer lack of foresight to their market. The sponges themselves work exactly as you would expect. They're a bit stiffer than regular sponges, but I like it for my purposes. I mainly use these sponges to clean flat surfaces, so they shouldn't be too flexible. They absorb water and foam almost equally and leave no scratches. Aside from being wrapped in plastic, they're a good buy if you're trying to be eco-friendly. But you pay a surcharge for this. Overall I give this 4 stars for the green market value.
