These lenses are excellent for magnification. I bought these for my mom as she works on her genealogy projects which include very small print censuses and other information. I chose this kit because of the difference in power and lens shape (my mom specifically wanted a rectangular lens). She uses them often, but her only complaint is the light. The light is located on the back of the grip just below the lens mount and is most often tilted slightly to illuminate the area the lens is magnifying. Unfortunately, it doesn't light the other side of a rectangular lens very well, making it pretty silly to use a rectangular lens when light is needed. I think this could be fixed with a relatively simple redesign, but for now this is the best option I could find for a reasonable price and/or multiple lens options. My mother has already found a use for it since receiving it in December 2010.
