They are very similar to the cotton pajamas my kids love, but a little thicker. In the photo, I turned the sleeve inside out to show the material. Personally I think they are true to size but if they tilt to either side they will be small. My son is very skinny/small size 10 so M is a little smaller for him and L is a little loose at the waist. I have white ones for my son to wear under his skinny Stormtrooper costume for Halloween. He really likes her and we think about it
