I usually can't stand upright for more than 5 minutes because I don't have a neck brace. So I tried it and it was amazing - my head and neck have solid support for hours. If you don't have a window seat, this is definitely the pillow you need. If you have spinal issues or a pinched neck, this is for you! It is firm at first but becomes soft enough as it adapts to your body heat. If it's cold, you can sit down for a minute or so. There's a smart strap that lets you dial in the support you want - tight and your head stays up, loose and you can lean slightly to one side. .ABOUT PACKAGING. We are experienced travelers and first class micropackers. Before that, I've tried 3 different types of neck pillows: inflatable, microbeads, and even stuffed cotton (er: underwear and socks) in a cotton drawstring bag when we were traveling the world with just one 'personal item', and I would don't do any of this again for comfort or support. Note: This bag can't be compressed more than 10% with the bag, but they've designed a really discreet, stretchy handle so you can easily hold it while controlling 5 other things. All in all, I love it and highly recommend trying it out.
