Review on 📷 Desmond DAC-X1 50mm Lightweight Skeleton Quick-Release Clamp with 3/8" and 1/4" Adapter, Arca-Swiss Compatible for Tripod Head by Alex Jones

Although I'll keep both I've ordered this and Sunwayfoto (3 star rating) to compare when I upgrade from Manfrotto RC2 to Arca-Swiss. For additional conversions, more of these are purchased. Was damaged by a Benro 1 B2 ball head which had a 2 piece plate release. The handle unscrews just enough to allow the plate/chamber to slide between the two stops, but NOT to fall out. To remove it completely, I had to pull and twist the handle to make the jaws open a little more. This is a great feature and should be in every Arca-Swiss design, but pretty much every base plate I've seen is fully screwed in to open the jaws non-stop. I'm not talking about the two pins on each end that limit slippage, but rather the opening of the jaw when one that's too open can fall out. This base is pre-drilled for 3/8 thread and available in 3/8 to 1/4 thread. Adapter. The screw was not included, but is usually located in the terminal block. If not, most hardware stores have a 1/4-thread-20 thread needed for an adapter (don't buy the fine 28 thread). You could even get 3/8 and skip the adapter. For this reason I prefer the Ace over the big hardware stores as they have an open box and you can just buy it. If you bring a nozzle you can try a shop mount.
